I’ve never done it either, but I’ve been the asshole handing the fitting to the person just a second too late. ( Because I noticed it on the bench a second too late, but my father still was irritated that I found it amusing.) It taught me a valuable lesson with it though.

Other favorite is have it fall a ways down the line, bend the line then realize the nut cant be brought to the flare. Lots of “aw fuck” coming out of NYankee’s bay back in the day.
